What you need to know
At The Workplace, we understand the challenge of being “thrown into the deep end” when managing people and workplace compliance. Australian employment law is complex and ever-changing and when people are involved no two situations are the same.
We welcome you to join us for an in-person session focussing on the fundamentals, over a half day allowing the opportunity for group discussion. The session will provide an overview and refresher, for those looking to grow in People & Culture roles and for managers and leaders seeking to upskill in the people space.
In the session, we will cover topics including:
An overview of the sources of employee entitlements, including an introduction to modern awards and industrial relations.
Fundamentals of compliance as the foundation for building trust in teams.
The key risk areas for leaders across the employment life cycle, including managing hybrid working and work from home flexibility.
Practical solutions to complex issues, and when matters should be escalated.
The personal costs of getting it wrong for senior managers and accessorial liability provisions under the Fair Work Act.
What you’ll take away
We’ll make sure you leave our session well equipped for further thought and reflection! Session materials will include a detailed slide deck and a Guide to Australian Employment Law which you can use as your “cheat sheet” moving forward.
